"The impact of the recession in the 1980s was felt quickly – although not as swiftly as the Covid19 lock-down. But the effects were the same: factories closed, shops and pubs were shuttered. 

But there is some hope in the photograph. The dog is straining to get out of the picture looking forward to a good sniff, ‘reading the daily papers’ and then heading home for a bowl of BONIO and PAL. " - John Myers
